Daal Masoor fry


INGREDIENTS

2 cups dry masoor dal
8 cups water
1 tbsp oil
1 massive onion, fine chopped
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp minced ginger
2 green chilles, minced
1 tbsp Indian curry powder
1 tsp whole flavored
1 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 one/2 tsp salt, according to taste
one 1/2 cups cut fresh tomatoes
cilantro, for garnish
basmati rice, to serve


Direction

Combine the lentils and water in a very massive pot. bring it to boil, then flip the warmth right down to simmer. Skim off any foam that collects on high. Cook, part coated, till the lentils are tender, and cook for 15-20 minutes.
While the lentils are preparation, create the tadka. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the oil and onion, garlic, ginger, chiles, and a pinch of salt. Fry till soft, regarding five minutes.
Add the spices: curry powder, mustard, coriander, and cumin, beside the salt. then  mix and cook for regarding 1 minute, then add the tomatoes. Cook regarding 7 minutes to cook down the tomatoes if canned, or till the tomatoes are soft and saucy if recent.
Then the tadka to the fried lentils, and simmer over low heat for regarding 5 minutes to infuse with flavor.
Serve garnished with cilantro and with basmati rice
